How VegasCost Sources Hotel Cost Information
Every VegasCost number is sourced, dated, and labeled by source quality.
VegasCost prioritizes official hotel information. When a property does not publish a sufficiently current amount, we may use recent reputable booking or travel sources and label them clearly. Hotel fees and policies can change, so confirm important details before booking.
Source-quality labels
- Official hotel source
- A sufficiently current first-party hotel source supports the amount: hotel FAQ, terms, booking engine, policy page, or a current official offer.
- Cross-checked with trusted sources
- No current first-party amount is published, but at least two independent reputable sources agree on the amount and its important treatment.
- Reported by trusted source
- One strong current secondary source supports the amount. Useful, but lower confidence than official or cross-checked information.
- Sources currently disagree
- Credible current sources disagree. We show a range rather than silently choosing one amount.
- Current amount unavailable
- We have not found sufficiently current, reputable information to publish a reliable amount, so we publish none.
Our rules
- Official hotel information is always preferred over third-party information.
- Third-party information is labeled as such. We never present it as though the hotel confirmed it, and we never call it “verified by hotel.”
- Cross-checked values require at least two genuinely independent reputable sources. Syndicated copies of the same content do not count twice.
- When sources disagree, we show the disagreement or a range rather than quietly picking one number.
- Forums, social posts, personal blogs, search snippets, and AI answers are never the final authority for a published amount.
- “No resort fee” is a stronger claim than an ordinary amount and requires first-party confirmation.
- Promotional waivers and package inclusions are shown separately from standard policy; they never overwrite the standard fee.
- Affiliate relationships never affect source confidence or how a hotel’s costs are presented.
- Every amount shows the date its sources were verified or checked.
Hotel fees, holds, promotions, and policies can change. VegasCost shows the most recently verified information we have found. Confirm important details directly with the hotel before traveling.
