Las Vegas Strip road closures on New Year’s Eve
Las Vegas Boulevard is normally closed to vehicles for the New Year’s Eve celebration, with the closure area and timing set each year by Metro police and state transportation officials. That decision affects far more than the Strip itself: hotel driveways, garage entrances and surrounding surface streets all sit inside or beside the restricted area.
Not announced yet
The 2027 Las Vegas Strip road-closure and vehicle-access plan has not been announced. Closure times, affected intersections and hotel driveway access are confirmed closer to December 31.
Times from a previous December are reference only. VegasCost publishes the current-year windows here once they are official.
Can you drive to your Las Vegas hotel on December 31?
The practical question is not whether the Strip closes, but whether your specific hotel can still be reached by car at the time you plan to arrive. Properties differ: some are entered from side streets such as Koval Lane, Frank Sinatra Drive or Industrial Road, some are reached only from the Boulevard, and downtown hotels sit outside the Strip closure entirely. That is why the planner above is hotel-by-hotel rather than a single city-wide answer.
Where to park in Las Vegas on New Year’s Eve
Hotel guest parking and visitor parking are priced differently at most properties, and several hotels charge visitors while guests park free. On a peak night the published visitor rate can also be replaced by event pricing, and garages can reach capacity or close their entrances well before midnight. A normal rate tells you the cost, not the availability.
Getting back into your hotel after the Strip closes
Some Las Vegas properties temporarily control who enters during the celebration, and entrances used earlier in the day are not always the entrances open at 11 PM. Rules vary by property and are not universal, so keep your room key and photo identification with you and check your hotel’s own December 31 notice.

2027 hotel re-entry restrictions have not been announced yet. New Year's Eve properties may temporarily control access, so keep your room key and photo ID with you.

What your Las Vegas hotel may charge at check-in
A New Year’s Eve stay carries the same four cost layers as any other night, and they are separate from each other: the mandatory nightly resort or amenity fee, parking if you drive, any booking deposit charged to reserve the room, and the refundable incidental hold placed on your card at check-in. VegasCost tracks each one per hotel from the property’s own published information, and leaves it marked unknown when the hotel does not publish it.
Fremont Street on New Year’s Eve
Downtown runs its own New Year’s Eve environment at the Fremont Street Experience, separate from the Strip celebration. Admission, entry points and re-entry rules downtown have differed from the Strip in the past, and downtown hotels are outside the Strip closure area, which changes how you arrive and how you get back to your room.
